Nigeria's Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has been appointed as the Chairman of the African Governors' Forum by the World Bank. This is the first time a Nigerian has been appointed to this position.

In a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the Minister expressed his appreciation for the confidence placed in him by the World Bank and promised to use his position to advocate for improved economic development in Africa. .
He called on all African countries to work together to achieve sustainable development.
The statement reads, “The appointment presents a unique opportunity for Nigeria and implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“WORLD BANK APPOINTMENT.
“Nigeria’s Minister @FinMinNigeria & Coordinating Minister of the Economy Mr. Wale Edun has been appointed to Chair the African Governors’ Forum of the World Bank.
“This marks the first time Nigeria has assumed the role of Chairman in 60 years.”
