Plateau University, Bokkos, has suspended academic activities for ten days following the tragic killing of a second-year student by gunmen.
Mr. Yakubu Ayuba, the Registrar, announced this in Jos in a statement on Saturday, April 20. The gunmen attacked Chikam, a neighboring community, on Thursday night, April 18, where the student, identified as Dading Jordan, was killed. The university had previously declared a two-day mourning period in honor of the deceased student.
The closure aims to improve the security situation and reduce risks in the university community. The ongoing first semester examinations have been suspended and will resume on Thursday, May 2. Buses have been arranged to transport stranded students to Barkin Ladi.
