Renowned journalist and expert in development data, Rotimi Sankore, has passed away.

Kadaria Ahmed, CEO of RadioNow 95.3FM, shared the news on Facebook. She praised Sankore as one of Nigeria's finest journalists and a remarkable human being. His cause of death was not disclosed.

"It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of Rotimi Sankore, one of Nigeria's finest journalists and an outstanding individual. Rotimi had a profound love for Nigeria, which drove him to honestly address its challenges and propose solutions.

"He was an expert in data journalism, unmatched in his ability to analyze data, understand events, and project trajectories, particularly those that could be avoided.

"Throughout the years, Rotimi dedicated his time and energy to ensuring that government officials, policymakers, and ordinary Nigerians understood the significance of data, how it was derived, its implications, and how it could guide decision-making.

"His work was insightful and impactful, and it will be his enduring legacy. His passing is a significant loss, and he will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to his daughter and family," the post read.

Sankore was a Development and Policy Expert, a Journalist and Journalism Trainer, and a Human Rights Advocate. He served as the Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Africa Centre for Development Journalism, providing communication support to organizations working for social, political, and economic change in Africa.

He worked as a journalist across Africa and internationally and was recently the Editorial Board Chair of Nigeria Info Radio Group, part of AIM Media Group, overseeing 13 stations in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Onitsha, which included Nigeria Info, WaZoBia, Cool FM, and Arewa Radio Stations.
