In a surprising turn of events, former Donald Trump attorney Sidney Powell has pleaded guilty to election interference in Georgia.

Powell admitted to her role in the 2021 breach of election systems in Coffee County, Georgia, with the help of local Republican officials. The group copied information from the county's election systems in an attempt to prove the election was rigged against Trump.

Powell's plea comes just one day before her trial was set to begin. Prosecutors are recommending a sentence of six years probation, an apology letter to Georgia's citizens, and nearly $9,000 in restitution and fines.

It's important to note that after the 2020 election, Powell had pushed conspiracy theories about voter fraud and made false claims about millions of votes being flipped by foreign powers in a plot against Trump. In the racketeering case, Powell is the second person to plead guilty, joining bail bondsman Scott Hall.
