South African singer Tyla Laura Seethal (aka Tyla) recently told Apple Music that if she could choose any celebrity to take to a prom, it would be Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Rema.

The revelation comes as a surprise to many, as Tyla has not been linked with any celebrity before. Tyla's appreciation for Rema's music and talent seems to be the motivation behind her choice.

She said, “Rema would be cute. I hung out with him last year, and we took pictures together. That was so dramatic.

“After that situation I realised that Hollywood is just vibes like you can’t trust everything you see cause that looked like a scandal. Even I started believing [we were dating]. But we are just friends.”

Previously, there had been rumors that Rema was romantically involved with Justin Skye, an American singer, after he took her on a birthday date in August.

There have also been speculations of a romantic relationship between Rema and his Mavin Records label mate, Ayra Starr. However, Ayra denied the rumors, stating that Rema was like a brother to her.

Despite all this, Tyla's recent declaration of interest in the "Calm Down" crooner is sure to create more buzz in the Nigerian music scene.
