On Thursday, September 14, 2023, troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) averted an attempted kidnapping of Anglican Bishop Paul Zamani in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State. According to a statement from OPSH Media Information Officer, Captain Oya James, the incident occurred in Sambak Gida village, where the Bishop was en route to a meeting.

The troops were able to foil the attempted kidnapping and ensure the safety of the Bishop.

This highlights the ongoing efforts of OPSH to keep Kaduna state safe.

The statement reads

As part of the commitment of Operation SAFE HAVEN to secure communities in its Area of Responsibility, troops of OPSH also thwarted an attempt to kidnap Bishop Paul Zamani of Anglican Diocese at Sambak Gida village in Jaba LGA of Kaduna Sate,

"Troops swiftly mobilised to the scene after receiving a distress call and exchanged fire with the kidnappers who fled with gunshot wounds

“The Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar has thanked the general public for providing credible information leading to the arrest of the suspects and foiling the kidnap attempt. He assured the public that the suspects would be expeditiously charged to court once investigations are concluded.”
