Three students from a senior secondary school in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State have been killed by lightning.

According to an eyewitness, the nine male students, who were playing football barefoot on the school pitch, were struck by lightning on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

The students were reportedly practicing with their coach for a football tournament. The tragedy has brought the issue of lightning safety to the forefront of public consciousness, as it highlights the dangers of being struck by lightning while engaging in outdoor activities.
