Following the FIFA Best Player Award won by the greatest of all time in football Lionel Messi, ex super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has validated the victory, stating that he truly deserves it. 

The former Barcelona magician who won his 8th ballon d’or after winning the World Cup for Argentina in 2022 has been crowned FIFA Best Player Award on Tuesday. 

Although a lot of critics has attacked the football body FIFA for making the greatest player the favorite.

Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has reacted to the claim, stating that, no matter what the players are doing or which ever club they are Lionel Messi remains on top.

According to Mikel Obi, he said “ what would have being an hindrance is the World Cup and he (Lionel Messi ) won it already so nothing should stop him from winning the FIFA Best Player Award.”

Mikel also said “Erling Haaland is not has special in Manchester City as claimed.

“Without Haaland, Manchester City has won 9 games out of 10 games which make him not too special to the team, since with or without him they will get what they want.”

Lionel Messi who moved to Inter Miami after  Barcelona could not secure his coming back due to Financial FairPlay, has become a very big asset to the USA side, helping them to win their first every trophy in 2023.
