Anxiety has gripped residents and shop owners in the Oke-Baale community of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, following the killing of a middle-aged woman in the area.

The headless body of the homeless woman was discovered behind a shopping complex directly opposite the Local Government Secretariat at Oke-Baale early on Tuesday. Ismail Adeoye, a resident, reported that hoodlums suspected to be ritual killers dragged the woman behind the shop early that morning, but residents were too scared to question them. One shop owner raised the alarm upon discovering the headless body behind her shop. The body was mutilated, missing its arms, head, and breasts, and the matter was reported to the police. In fear of being arrested over the incident, shop owners abandoned their shops.

The victim had been homeless for months, living beside the road in the area and begging for alms. The Osun Police Command Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, stated that the command had alerted the appropriate authority to attend to the headless and armless body and that the police had commenced an investigation into the incident.
