Host Nation Ivory Coast has proved supremacy in the ongoing Africa cup of nations AFCON after beating Mali in the quarterfinals series to secure a semi finals ticket.

A last minute goal from the Reims midfielder Oumar Diakita has sent the Ivorian to the semifinals of the tournament after a massive battle with a double red card.

It was a mouth watering goalless first half as Mali refused to convert the penalty awarded to them to a goal.

Second half took a different shape as Mali took the lead with a strike from Nene D, but the Lion heart Ivorian will never give up even with a man down, equalized the game two minutes to the end of second half with a thunderous strike from the Brighton forward Adinger Simon.

A dramatic 30 minutes extra time for the both sides to decide who will move to the next phase of the tournament, as the Reims midfielder drops a shocker in the 120th minute of the game to send the 10men Ivorians to semi final stage of AFCON2023.

Although Diakita who got a red card for pulling of his shirt will miss the rest of the tournament but the people of Ivory Coast are so much please with him.

Ivory Coast who escaped the group stage elimination with best loser option will be facing Congo in the Semi Finals of the tournament.
