Nigerian Army Thwarts Kidnapping and Neutralizes Terrorist in Taraba State

The Nigerian Army has successfully prevented a kidnapping attempt in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, also arresting a cattle rustling syndicate. This accomplishment was announced in a statement released on Friday, April 19, 2024.

The statement highlighted the troops' achievement in neutralizing a notorious terrorist known as Gambo Kachallah, who had been causing havoc in communities within Karim Lamido LGA.

The troops' actions were part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and insurgency in the North East and North Central regions, demonstrating their steadfast commitment to protecting citizens' lives and property and maintaining peace and security.

In one instance, troops responded swiftly to a distress call, thwarting the kidnapping of Mr. Musa Arewa by three armed kidnappers in the Lankaviri community. The kidnappers, caught trying to take their victim into nearby bushes after subjecting him to severe torture, were apprehended, and three locally made guns were seized.

Furthermore, in a coordinated operation with hunters and other security agencies, the troops conducted a clearance patrol to rid communities of terrorist infiltration. During this operation, they eliminated Gambo Kachallah, who had been terrorizing several villages in Karim Lamido LGA.

In a separate operation, troops successfully captured a notorious cattle rustling syndicate in Plateau State. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched a sting operation targeting the terrorists' hideout in Mangu Village, Mangu Local Government Area. This operation led to a decisive engagement with the terrorists, resulting in their arrest and the recovery of illicit arms.

The arrested suspects, identified as Peter Sale, Enoch Luka, and Hosaana Philibus, are believed to be key members of the cattle rustling syndicate. The troops recovered one fabricated rifle, one fabricated pistol, 7 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, a motorbike, and 2 phones from the suspects.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in the regions.
