Police Apprehend Notorious Bandits and Criminals in Taraba State, Recover Arms and Ammunition

The police have identified Ibrahim Mohammed, Rabiu Abdullahi, and Umar Usman Wara as the suspects responsible for terrorizing residents in several local government areas of Taraba state, including Gassol, Jalingo, Yorro, and Takum.

State Commissioner of Police, CP David Iloyanomon, disclosed that the trio, along with 25 other suspected criminals, were apprehended through credible intelligence in collaboration with the FID-STS.

CP Iloyanomon stated, "FID-STS operatives, in collaboration with the Taraba State Command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested three notorious bandits: Ibrahim Mohammed, 50 years old, from Shinkafi Local Government in Zamfara State; Rabiu Abdullahi, 40 years old, from Sabon-Layi, Jalingo Town; and Umar Usman Wara. The suspects confessed to terrorizing Gassol, Jalingo, Yorro, and Takum, and admitted to supplying over fifty AK-47/AK-49 rifles and over 3000 live ammunition to a most wanted terrorist, Ali Kachalla, and other Bandit Camps in Niger, Zamfara, Katsina, and Taraba states.

"The recovered exhibits include: One AK-47 rifle and 85 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition."

CP Iloyanomon also mentioned that the 25 other suspected criminals were apprehended for various crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, cybercrime, cattle rustling, criminal conspiracy, and theft.

He added that the Command recovered "7 AK-47 rifles, 2 locally made pistols, 1 Beretta, 30 5.5mm live ammunitions, and 128 7.62mm ammunitions" during the operations.

Other seized items include "1 Honda Motorcycle, 2 live Cartridges, 3 knives, 1 cutlass, 1 axe, 1 plier, 1 Itel handset, 1 plate number, 1 Tricycle, eight hundred and fifty thousand naira (N850,000) cash, 102 cows, One Lar rifle, Two SMG rifles, One fabricated AK-47 rifle, and Fourteen (14) Magazines."

CP Iloyanomon expressed gratitude to the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for supporting the state Command in ensuring the safety of residents. He urged residents to provide valuable information to help the police eradicate crime and criminality in the state.
